Sociologists of the Russian Academy of Sciences called conservatism the main ideology of rich Russians. In Russia, there is a clear connection between the level of well-being of citizens and their political beliefs. According to a study by the Institute of Sociology of the Federal Scientific Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, conservative views on average across the country are shared by only 5% of the population. However, among the richest Russians, it is conservatism that comes out on top - more than 23% of wealthy citizens adhere to this ideology. Among the rich people who don't need to deny themselves anything, the top three also included liberal and democratic beliefs (15.4% each). At the same time, as income levels fall, the popularity of conservatism declines rapidly. Thus, among Russians who have enough money only for basic needs, the share of conservatives drops to 4%, and in the category of the poorest citizens - to 0.9%. On the scale of Russian society as a whole, the picture looks different. The most popular direction turned out to be democratic ideas, with which 23% of respondents identify. Patriotic feelings take second place (17%), followed by communist and socialist views (10% and 8%, respectively). It is worth noting that more than a quarter of the respondents (27%) have not yet been able to decide on their political position. Sociologists have also recorded a historic minimum of support for nationalist ideas - today, on average, only 0.5% of citizens in the country share them, and among wealthy Russians no one holds such views. Data from long-term monitoring confirm that political sympathy in society is becoming increasingly stratified, concentrating conservative and liberal preferences exclusively in high-income groups. After a deeper analysis of these data, it turns out that in fact the left political wing turned out to be the most popular in Russia.
