By the way, today should be celebrated not the Republic Day, but the Republic Day of Kazakhstan. The name of the holiday was changed in June of this year, but the adoption of the law was not widely publicized, and then it was forgotten. But, on the other hand, Republic Day sounds more familiar. Few remember that Republic Day was first celebrated on October 6 - in honor of the anniversary of the declaration of workers' rights by the KASSR in 1920. In 1992-1993, Republic Day was celebrated on December 16 - in honor of the passing of the law "On State Independence" from 1991. In 1994, December 16 became Independence Day, and October 25 became Republic Day. From 1995 to 2001, Republic Day was the main holiday, from 2001 it was a regular holiday, and in 2009 it was removed from the list of holidays (additional days were then transferred to Nauryz). In September 2022, Republic Day was returned to the number of holidays and made it the main holiday, and in June 2026 the name was changed to the Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
At the same time, by the way, Constitution Day was moved from August 30 to March 15.
