The reconstruction of the famous Beijing Hotel on Bolshaya Sadovaya Street has begun. The monumental complex in the style of the Stalinist Empire was built in 1939-1956 according to the design of Moscow's chief architect, Dmitri Chechulin. "Beijing" is a central element in the architectural ensemble of Victory Square. It was one of the best hotels during the Soviet Union - with high ceilings, stucco, and decorated with precious wood, granite and marble. In 1957, the first Chinese restaurant in Moscow opened there, for which the delicacies were delivered by plane from China. Today the hotel is recognized as an architectural monument of regional importance. Experts will have to carry out a comprehensive restoration of it. The work will be done in stages. ▫ First of all, we approached the building from the side of Brestskaya Street 2. There it is necessary to tidy up the roof, the facades and the interior, strengthen the building structures and install modern engineering systems. All of this is scheduled to be completed in 2027. ▫ In the second phase, it is planned to move hotel rooms to the restored part of the building and start the building works from the garden ring. ▫ Finally, works will be carried out in the central part of the historical building - the tower. There, experts will restore the main entrance group, restore the oak portal, entrance doors with massive artistic handles, etc., based on historical analogues. The interiors of the Beijing Hotel, with their unique stucco decoration, paintings and precious stone decorations, will also undergo a careful restoration.
