Ageev is a 32-year-old former security officer from the Brest region. He was arrested by Russian security forces in February 2024 in the annexed Crimea - he allegedly went there on the orders of the head of BYPOL, Alexander Azarov. For about seven months he was held in an FSB pretrial detention center together with Ukrainian prisoners of war, where he was beaten and tortured. In September 2024, Agayev was extradited to Belarus. No documents were given to him, so the period of detention in Russia was not included in the sentence. Vasilevsky is a former employee of the Belarusian National Technical University. He was arrested in September 2025. Balashenko is a 39-year-old former lieutenant colonel at the military academy who left the service after 2021 and started working in taxis and logistics companies. Before that, he built a successful military career for a long time. BYPOL is an association of former security officials, founded in 2020.
