The President of Finland and the Prime Minister of Norway spoke on the phone with the President of Russia about ending the war in Ukraine, as stated in a statement from the Office of the President of Finland. It was noted that the call was initiated by Alexander Stab and Jonas Gahr Støre and was a continuation of the meeting that took place in Oslo on 20 October, in which, in addition to them, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, and the special representative of the President of the United States, Steve Witzke, participated. Witzke then met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. After the meeting, the parties expressed their willingness to resume the trilateral negotiations (U.S., Ukraine, and Russia). The meeting may take place on 10 November in Abu Dhabi. In the statement it was said that Stab and Støre spoke with Putin to "discuss Russia's offensive war in Ukraine and diplomatic efforts to end the war and promote peace and stability in Europe." "Finland and Norway are Russia's neighbors, and both countries strongly support Ukraine. The purpose of the conversation was to directly convey Ukraine's messages to President Putin about the upcoming peace talks in Abu Dhabi," the message read. Ukraine's interests were taken into account ahead of the conversation, and according to reports, Stab and Støre participated in the conversation as leaders of their countries and did not act as representatives of Europe.
