Despite all the struggle with refining, the Chinese labs continue to provide cool models (which was not obvious, means that these labs really know how to do RL and training, and not just "stole everything from Anthropic"). The latest Kimi 5.1 according to average metrics is no worse than the Legend 5 or Astra 6, which came out just over a month ago. The gap between open source and proprietary models is even narrowing a bit. In video, voice and photos, open models are often even in the first place. My opinion: any alternative and decentralization is beneficial to the global economy, because it plays at least a little as a counterbalance to the concentration of resources and power in the five leading laboratories. However, it is not a fact that this trend will be valid as we move towards the RSI. And I certainly don't believe in decentralizing computer ownership. Hundreds of billions for the construction of DC come from the capital market, this market is driven by credit reliability, and is evaluated according to the scope and credit rating of the borrower and the guarantee that the resources will generate cash. I expect more and more concentration here.
