Venezuela's Acting President Delsey Rodriguez demanded the return of her country's gold reserves deposited in the Bank of England, which were frozen 6 years ago. "Enough with the excuses. This gold belongs to Venezuela and not the Bank of England. What we are witnessing in recent years is a farce aimed at capturing these resources illegally," according to Rodriguez. Venezuela holds gold bars in the British central bank, the value of which in 2023 was estimated at 1.9 billion dollars. But it was unable to withdraw due to London's refusal to recognize the re-election of former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in 2018.
