Financial markets analyst at First Financial Markets, Ahmed Shuraim, tells CNBC Arabia, "What was most striking about the Fed's statement - after the rate stabilization - was the opposition of two members, including Lisa Cook." Sharim adds: "This is the first time that Lisa Cook opposes the general decision", believing that "there are obviously many good reasons to oppose a rate increase". But he adds: "But it's hard not to believe that Lisa Cook's decision may have resulted in part from ongoing legal threats from the Trump administration." He adds: "Her vote for removal today before the congressional sessions further supports the argument behind her decision." US President Donald Trump tried to fire Cook amid allegations related to information she provided on mortgage loan applications. While the Supreme Court halted the president's attempts, the US administration reopened the case, with a hearing scheduled for early November.
