The Moroccan Royal Court says that the kingdom will in the coming days open the first container terminal in the port of Nador, a deep water port in the Mediterranean Sea. Morocco will also launch work to increase the capacity of the Tangier Med port to 20 million containers, compared to the 11.1 million containers handled last year, according to the Diwan. The Diwan adds in a statement that the capacity of the first container terminal at Nador port will reach 3.5 million containers. A second terminal, with a capacity of 1.8 million containers, is scheduled to enter service during April of next year. The statement was issued after Morocco's King Mohammed VI held a meeting related to the $5.5 billion project.
