An increase in the number of vacancies due to a lack of specialists. Despite the increase in the number of vacancies in the chemical industry and the fuel and energy complex, there is still a shortage of workers in the branches, according to data from Avito Rabota. During the period from September 2025 to September 2026, demand increased most strongly for instrumentation engineers (+43%), chemical engineers (+42%) and instrumentation mechanics (+39%). Next come mechanics for equipment maintenance and repair (+37%) and technologists (+17%). However, the number of responses to these positions remains low. On average there are 1.2 answers for each vacancy for an equipment mechanic, a chemical engineer - 1.3 and an equipment engineer - 1.6. By 2030, the chemical industry will need more than 100 thousand specialists. In the fuel and energy complex this figure is even higher - about 300 thousand workers. Personnel for the chemical industry are being trained as part of the national project "New Materials and Chemistry". According to the Deputy Director of the Department of Chemical Industry of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Alexey Artemyev, the work is carried out especially for the tasks of specific production projects: as part of the implementation of the federal project, a model of interaction between the state, business and education was created: chemical industry enterprises are included in the training of personnel at all stages - from the formation of a qualified order and participation in the educational process to the organization of career events and assistance in the employment of students and graduates.
