What is it like to make decisions about the key gate? The participants in the monetary policy olympiad, held for the first time at the all-Russian level, managed to find this out. With the support of the University of Moscow. M.V. The Lomonosov Olympics brought together 275 national teams from all over the country, as well as from Belarus and Kazakhstan. Students tried themselves in the position of central bank management. In a macroeconomic simulator, they made decisions on the key rate and tried to keep inflation close to the target. To this end, the participants analyzed the economic indicators of a fictitious country and developed economic models. 16 teams reached the finals. They defended their results before a jury, which included representatives of the Bank of Russia, Moscow University and commercial banks (and also answered tough questions). As the participants themselves noted, the task was far from easy. The Olympics ended with a conversation about the real economy. The Deputy Chairman of the Bank of Russia Alexei Zabotkin and the Head of the Department of Micro and Macroeconomic Analysis of the Faculty of Economics of Moscow State University Philip Karataev discussed with the students the possibilities and limitations of economic models, the role of the regulator in managing inflation and the requirements for future economists. Congratulations to the winners and runners-up.
