Yesterday the National Bank made the second largest intervention in the history of Kyrgyzstan, selling $214.5 million in total, since the beginning of the year, the financial regulator sold $2 billion $293.6 million. The biggest sale was at the end of June this year - more than 222 million dollars. For comparison: during the entire past year, the National Bank spent significantly less on maintaining the Som exchange rate - 853 million dollars. Usually, the financial regulator sells dollars to smooth out sharp fluctuations in the exchange rate or compensate for the shortage of foreign currency in the market.
