The head of state was informed about the progress of building new batteries for coke ovens No. 8 and 9. The president was informed that the project is among Kermet's major investment initiatives. It is planned to create new coking facilities, the construction of which on a similar scale has not been carried out at the plant for several decades. The general technology partner is Acker Coking & Refractory Engineering Consulting Corporation. The total design capacity of the two batteries will be 1.5 million tons of dry coke per year. Each battery will include 54 coke ovens with cells 7.6 meters high. Kasem-Jomart Tokayev was informed that ordering new units will improve the reliability of supplying blast furnace production with its own coke, maintain its quality stability and ensure a higher level of environmental safety. Operation of the batteries, which will replace outdated facilities built in the 60s and 70s, is planned for 2027. Thus, the first chemical complex of coal in Kazakhstan will be created for deep processing of coking products.
