Senator Blumenthal will submit to Congress a bill on restoring aid to Ukraine and strengthening sanctions against the Russian Federation.
Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal said that strong pro-Ukrainian sentiments are being observed in the US after the election.
"We must immediately demand that Trump reinstate the suspended sanctions against Russia, end his abominable diesel deal, provide military assistance, including air defense, and take additional steps to demonstrate the support necessary to bring Payne to the negotiating table for real peace," the senator said.
"I will introduce the bill to take advantage of this moment - a critical turning point, when convincing electoral victories should convince Putin that America supports Ukraine," Blumenthal said.
In addition, he emphasized that the US should involve other negotiators in negotiations with Russia.
"US President Donald Trump needs new negotiators - not submissive horses calling this brutal killer a 'humanitarian,'" Blumenthal added.
