The split of the Turkish opposition is gradually ceasing to be a temporary conflict over the party leadership. The creation of the "New Party" (NP) has already led to the establishment of an independent political center, and the question is not so much reconciliation as further competition. NP leader Ozor Ozal ahead of the party's first congress said his party members would not return to the "Republican People's Party" (CHP) even if the resolution on the total inequality of the 2023 congress was reversed. He cited the large number of new members and the inability to abandon the already established party structure. Ozel separates the struggle for the legitimacy of the previous Congress from the question of returning to the CHP. For him, a coup in the ruling is important as a precedent for political justice, but not as a way to restore the old party configuration, because he expects to compete for a wider audience, not for CHP supporters. The division of the opposition proved structural: even a possible judicial decision will not eliminate the political and organizational reasons for the division. For the authorities, this means strengthening the competitor in the opposition camp, and for the opposition forces themselves - the need to rebuild relations before the future presidential elections. #Turkey @caucasar - don't think down on the Caucasus supports us.
