Local rare earth refuses to import First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Mantorov said that during the year the share of purchases of rare earth metals dropped from 75% to 68%. At the same time, by 2030 the target is 48%. The pace here is more important than the number itself. In the last year, the index improved by 7 percentage points, and to reach 48%, about 5 are enough, so the current dynamics are even ahead of what is required. The basis of this pace is the national project "New Materials and Chemistry". It is expected that in 4 years the volume of production of rare earth metals will triple, to 98.3 billion rubles. The segment itself is small, but its weight in the economy is determined by what comes further down the chain. These materials are used to produce magnets, catalysts, alloys, batteries and electronics for the aviation, energy and automotive industries, where the added value is much higher. The Angra-Yenisei cluster focuses precisely on the full cycle, from enrichment to finished products. The chances are determined according to three conditions, which the Ministry of Industry and Trade also specifies. The first is the capital intensity of lithium, beryllium, germanium, tantalum and niobium projects with long payback periods at the current price of silver. The second is local demand, which is still limited to a few items. And the last thing is processing, because the profit comes not from the extraction, but from the finished material. Russian money is now at MAX.
