A decline in tourism in Paris after the riots and looting. Bookings for Airbnb apartments in the French capital have fallen sharply as instability drives visitors away. The Butler agency, which manages up to 150 rental properties a month, reported a halving of new bookings since the riots last month. Last-minute bookings are down by three-quarters, and the November occupancy rate may drop to 35%. Some of the owners have already cut the prices in half. Luxury hotels saw 20% cancellations at the end of October, while last-minute bookings were down 60% from normal levels.
