The former president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, admitted the defeat of his party in the early parliamentary elections. The victory came to the list of students, with the support of the students leading the demonstrations. "We still don't have the final results, but preliminary data clearly show that we lost this election. The list of students won".
Vucic declared. According to his estimates, the student opposition will win 135 of the 250 seats in the parliament, compared to 105 for the United Serbia coalition, led by his Serbian Progressive Party. The official results have not yet been published. The list of students appeared against the backdrop of mass anti-government protests that erupted after the collapse of the central Novi Sad train station in November 2024. The tragedy left 16 dead. The protesters accused the authorities of corruption and demanded that the elections be brought forward.
