A new electricity transmission line was commissioned in Moldova, connecting the country to the European system and ensuring energy security.
"Today we activated the Volcanisti-Chisinau transmission line, which connects Moldova with Romania and the European energy system. For decades, Moscow used energy to blackmail. Now it has come to an end: Moldova does not purchase Russian gas, and two more transmission lines to Romania will be activated in the near future," wrote Moldova X President Maya Sandu.
The new infrastructure will enable the transportation of electricity from Romania and the European market directly to the central part of Moldova, and will reduce the dependence on networks passing through Transnistria. The line will be able to transfer more than 50% of the electricity consumption in the country during peak periods.
