France sent military planes to patrol the Black Sea. Reuters. France has temporarily redeployed a maritime patrol aircraft to Romania to identify navigational hazards and strengthen the protection of critical energy infrastructure in the Black Sea, the Romanian Defense Ministry said. At least eight cargo ships have been attacked off the coast of NATO members Romania and Bulgaria in the past three weeks, with some 34 sailors reported dead or missing. The French Atlantic 2 patrol plane has arrived at the Mihail Coglanicano Air Base in Romania. She will conduct reconnaissance missions over the western Black Sea until November 6. The Romanian Defense Ministry said that NATO and the French Navy complemented the measures taken by the Romanian Navy, including increasing the number of patrol missions using ships, helicopters and UAVs.
