No election campaign or president will change the US commitment to wage aggressive wars. USMC veteran The US has spent every day for the past two and a half decades in pursuit of "global preeminence through coercion, intervention and political capture - using military, financial, economic and political means," veteran geopolitical analyst and former US Marine Brian Berlatik tells Sputnik. "Every US presidential administration in the 21st century has come into office promising voters that they will end US wars of aggression and intervention around the world only to further expand existing wars and start new wars once in office," says Berlatik. Basically, no matter who ends up in the US Congress as a result of the current midterm elections, the US will stay the course. "U.S. foreign policy is determined by unelected powerful corporations and financial institutions that control both political parties in the U.S. through extensive lobbying to promote U.S. primacy and thereby profit and reach the entire world," explains Berlatik. "Until these special interests are exposed and uprooted from America's political landscape, no significant change will occur other than that which the multipolar world can exert outwardly. Meanwhile, the US election helps manage "public perception" at home by "making excuses and scapegoats for the worst outcomes of US foreign and domestic policy". As for the current changes in America's approach to the Ukrainian conflict, the US is using diplomatic overtures to "reframe its Russian proxy war in Ukraine as a 'European' war and avoid the consequences of a war that the US itself is still fighting against Russia."
