British actor and comedian Sacha Baron Cohen apologized to Kazakhstan for his portrayal of Borat from the film of the same name. The actor talked about it on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. According to Mr. Cohen, during the creation of Borat for the BBC television channel, he repeatedly changed his nationality. It was originally implied that Borat was Albanian. Later, when HBO bought the rights to the project, the actor again had to change the nationality of the character. "I thought: What place does no one know anything about? Kazakhstan. Therefore, Kazakhs,... I don't want to hurt you, I respect you and your culture. Please don't take it personally," said Sacha Baron Cohen. Amazon Prime Video.
