In the Republic of Komi, hospitals continue to be merged and staff cut. Authorities call it the modernization of health services Comey's Ministry of Health announced a large-scale reorganization of medical institutions. The Clinical Republican Hospital of Komi will be joined by three central regional hospitals - Sisolskaya, Koigorodskaya and Priluzhskaya, as well as the Republican Bureau of Pathology. In addition, the regional Telegram channel reports plans to merge the city hospital of Azhvinsky district and the central district hospital of Udora. There is no official confirmation of this second merger yet. The changes will mainly affect administrative and non-medical staff. It is planned to unify the management, to coordinate accounting, procurement and legal services. Some positions will be cut. Employees are guaranteed to be offered other vacancies. The Ministry of Health guarantees that the medical treatment of the population will not decrease, and the merger will increase its availability, among other things through specialist visits and telemedicine. However, specific data regarding the upcoming cuts and estimated budget savings have not yet been published. Meanwhile, a similar optimization was already carried out in 2026, when the City Hospital Syktyvkar No. 1 and the Consultation and Diagnostic Center were added to the Republican Hospital. Then it was planned to cut 11 staff positions, and the estimated savings were 19.2 million rubles. It is worth noting that the previous reorganization of government was directly related to the plan to improve the public finances of the Komi Republic for 2025–2027. A completely logical question is asked: if the main goal of the current transformations is to improve the quality of medical care, why not provide the public with specific indicators of expected improvements? How many more doctors will appear in the district hospitals? How much will the waiting time for tests be reduced? How much money will you be able to save and what exactly will it be used for?
