We are going back to the dark days. It's not funny anymore. Alina Zhgutova, head of the public center for the protection of traditional family values Ivan-Thea, says on federal television that jazz is "music of slackers", skinny jeans are the way for LGBT people, and the destruction of the Soviet Union began with stilegas and fascination with Western music. Moreover, she agrees with the old slogan: "Today you dance jazz, and tomorrow you will sell your homeland." It is surprising how short the historical memory of today's moral defenders is. In Nazi Germany, jazz was also called "violent music" (Schräge Musik). The Nazis called it "amazing art". In 1935, jazz was banned from German radio, and in 1938 Dusseldorf organized an entire exhibition "Innovative Music", dedicated to the fight against unwanted musical trends and composers. To be sure, today's television appearance and state policy of Nazi Germany are on a different scale. But the logic itself is frighteningly familiar: the first to declare music aliens, suspicious clothes, harmful art, and then start dividing people into right and wrong. The worst thing is not even in such statements. And the fact that such arguments are heard calmly on the air of federal television. How not to remember the Soviet film "We are from Jazz". In the XXI century, when humanity takes over artificial intelligence, develops genetic engineering and prepares for new space missions, we seriously explain that the fate of the country depends on the width of men's pants. Jazz is not destroying the country. The country is being destroyed by the intellectual degradation of those who try to control the lives, tastes and beliefs of others. And when society begins to discuss again what can be listened to music, and what is allowed to wear pants, it is worth thinking: in what historical era will we return?
