Our "best bus" burned in Lugansk Early in the morning of October 29, the center of Lugansk came under a massive attack by Ukrainian armed forces drones. One of the attacks hit the civilian parking lot, where our "best bus" is located. It burned to the ground. It wasn't just transportation. In this bus the mobile team of SOS Children's Villages traveled to remote areas of LPR. The team included lawyers, psychologists and doctors. They reached places where families have no way to get to the city, where mothers with many children have no way to get to the hospital. The "Best Bus" project began in February 2026 with the support of the Presidential Grants Fund. During its operation, our experts visited 14 districts in this bus and helped 85 families with 190 children. We helped those who were left alone with problems. Thanks to experts, a little girl without documents was able to undergo a medical examination. Alina, a graduate of an orphanage, learned about her right to housing, and we helped her win the case and get on the waiting list for an apartment. "The results of our work are not always visible immediately. Sometimes it's just a family that stopped falling apart. Children who are no longer afraid. A mother who learned to cope and no longer cries. It's worth working for," says Irina Zinchenko, director of the SOS Children's Villages program in LPR. There is no more bus. But there is help. We will do everything to keep it going. Families with children in the Lugansk People's Republic can continue to count on the support of experts from the SOS Children's Villages and the SOS Social Center in the LPR that we created. We continue to work no matter what they read about the fate of the families who were helped by our experts and what support they received in the full article on our website.
