The special commission made a preliminary decision on the inadequacy of the modernization and repair of the heavy missile cruiser "Peter the Great".
"The cruiser cannot be recovered. Every ship has a certain degree of wear and tear," said Vladimir Meltsev, head of the All-Russian Fleet Support Movement (DFS).
The final decision has not yet been made.
For me, the ship needs to be preserved and modernized, especially since we won't be building large surface ships of this size anytime soon. Moreover, even during the modernization of Admiral Nakhimov, there was also a lot of talk about why it was being modernized, it was old, it should be cut. Nevertheless, "Admiral Nakhimov" was brought into condition and returned to service.
By the way, in the context of ongoing changes related to UAVs, the new concept of the cruiser can provide the ability to launch modern long-range attack UAVs, as well as BECs.
