China's central bank will inject $15 billion into the country's stock market. Currency exchange transactions will be made with financial institutions. This will be the third time in two years that the People's Bank of China has used a liquidity facility to allow brokers, insurers and management companies to obtain liquidity to buy shares. China's benchmark index fell 8.5% in October, its worst performance since early 2016. Weak economic performance and upheavals in technology stocks have damaged investor confidence. The People's Bank's statement followed news that Chinese officials had discussed tools to support capital markets with financiers. The markets reacted to this with a slight increase. People's Bank said trading under the securities, funds and insurance exchange facility will take place on Tuesday. 31 brokerage and management firms submitted bids for more than 100 billion yuan ($15 billion) of swaps.
