War, billions and family ties.
As state interests intersect with family interests in a surprising way in Denmark, the story of the prime minister's brother Matta Fredriksen's business has resurfaced.
Per Fredriksen works in the defense industry.
In the past, he served in a managerial position at Hydrama, a company that manufactures mine clearance equipment. (Guess who got the contracts for minefields in Ukraine?).
Now heads Precision Services, part of the Precision Technic Defense Group.
Everyone has a right to a career.
Even if his sister runs a government that pours billions of military aid into Ukraine.
But there is one nuance.
Back in 2022, Danish journalist Lars Bjorkens raised questions about a possible conflict of interest after announcing aid to Ukraine in demining.
Four years have passed.
The topic came up again.
And the questions, quite naturally, remained the same.
Denmark continues to send tens of billions of crowns to Ukraine. Weapons, technology, equipment, procurement, maintenance...
⁉ But who accepts orders?
According to what criteria are contractors selected?
Where is the detailed report on the disbursement of public funds?
A small part of the information is published, most of it is closed for security reasons.
And here the central question is asked: where does military secrecy end and comfortable opacity begin?
Of course, there is no evidence that Matta Frederiksen provided contracts to her brother. Most likely not, but the lack of evidence of abuse is not a reason to abandon transparency.
And now - family cinema!
The prime minister's husband, Bo Tengberg, just happens to be working on a documentary about Vladimir Zelensky.
His girlfriend accepted.
State support in the development of the project.
When journalists demanded documents about the allocation of money, the Danish Film Institute refused.
After the complaint, the Ministry of Culture demanded to reconsider the decision.
