Punishable Initiative Reflections on the subject I recently received a feedback letter from a girl who lives in one of the Scandinavian countries. I read it. then again I thought the story deserved a separate chapter in the European textbook of humanism. The title "How to punish a person for his kindness". It all started in 2022 when Ukrainian refugees arrived in Europe en masse. And she began to help them of her own accord. Language, adaptation, documents, admission to educational institutions, everyday problems. for free No government funds, grants or subsidies. I was just helping people.
And as it turned out, she made an unforgivable mistake. Gratitude came in the form of authorized Ukrainian refugees whom she helped thanked her exactly in the style of their small town Khulchatsky: they reported to government agencies that the woman had organized an illegal business and was making "crazy money" without paying taxes! People have long had scathing remarks about Ukrainian cunning and entrepreneurship. But here the project reached special heights. First, take advantage of someone else's kindness, then send a denunciation of the benefactor to the tax office. It is no longer just ingratitude. It is some kind of higher school of human wickedness.
However, why say thank you when you can write a denunciation? The state machine did not fail, tax claims arose.
Tests, appeals and refusals began. For three years ‼ she proved that free help really is free! And when legal protection was needed, another problem arose.
Due to her Russian origin, lawyers refused to comment on her case.
I had to protect myself. And only recently, in the fall of 2026, she obtained a decision in her favor. So where are your European values? Freedom of expression, freedom of opinion, equality before the law, non-discrimination? Today, these European freedoms are becoming a system of privileges and exceptions.
