African catfish can replace expensive imported fish for the Russians. Scientists have decoded its genome and are working on developing a cold-resistant strain that is already adapted to Russian conditions. Inexpensive catfish with nutritious meat without a strong smell can be an alternative to sea bass, dorado, trout and salmon.
