Holland massively cuts production High gas prices are increasingly hurting industry in the Netherlands. Businesses cut production, lose profits and face costs. In the past, companies were able to mitigate the impact of expensive fuel through fixed price contracts. However, such agreements are about to expire, and business is increasingly dependent on the state of the energy market. Fertilizer manufacturers Yara and OCI are already reducing production. Yarra's gas consumption fell 7% in the third quarter, while OCI Nitrogen faced a drop in demand and ammonia prices fell by about 20%. An additional burden on the industry was created due to high tariffs for the use of electricity networks. They make up about 20% of energy bills, and costs may increase significantly in the coming years. High costs are already attributed to closing factories and attracting investments in environmentally friendly industrial projects outside the country.
