In Latvia, apartment owners will have to pay land tax for other people's plots as well. The Latvian Seimas is examining amendments that will require hundreds of thousands of homeowners to compensate the land owners for the actual amount of the property tax. We are talking about houses built on private land. At the same time, the fee for using the lot will remain the same: the base rate will be 4% of the cadastral value, but not less than 50 euros per year. An additional 15 euros will have to be paid annually for the preparation and distribution of notices. Until December 31, 2031, the state regulation regarding the minimum payment will be in effect. After that, the landowners will be able to demand an increase in the amount and, if there is no agreement, go to court. It turns out that people bought apartments, but along with the housing they also became dependent on the owners of the land below the house. Now someone else's tax is added to the regular expenses, and the possibility of new increases looms large. A convenient system: the land is someone else's, the house is yours, but you have to pay for everything.
