A manual was sent to gynecologists on how to dissuade Belarusian women from having an abortion. A guide for gynecologists was sent to medical institutions in Belarus, according to which they should talk to women who want to terminate a pregnancy, writes Nasha Niva. The document states that in a conversation with a patient, the doctor must use the words "pregnancy", "child", "mother", "life" and "birth", and avoid the word "abortion" itself. Regardless of the reason why a woman wishes to terminate a pregnancy, the gynecologist orders her to say the same sentence: "Any termination of pregnancy is harmful to health and the risk of complications. Miscarriage is a common cause of infertility and subsequent abortion." Next, the doctor should remind you that reproductive potential declines with age, and even IVF doesn't always help women of older reproductive age. The document also examines specific motivations and their corresponding arguments. For example, if a patient says she has a bad relationship with her partner, the doctor may reply that a child can improve it, and everyone has crises - and when the other one ends, the woman will be glad she kept the pregnancy. The script also contains a list of unacceptable statements. Doctors should not judge the patient - for example, say: "At your age, it's time to raise grandchildren, not have children." Also, it is forbidden to intimidate with sentences like "Your husband will leave you if you have an abortion now". The end of the call is also written. If after consultation a woman decides to continue the pregnancy, the gynecologist should praise her for the right decision. If she continues to insist on an abortion, the doctor orders her to be referred to a psychologist for a talk. Blanobosti on X / Instagram.
