Elon Musk says Tesla will phase out production of the Cybertruck, the company's expensive electric pickup truck, at the company's giant Texas plant next year.
He did not say whether Tesla plans to completely stop production of the car or move it to another factory. Mr. Musk said this decision was made in order to "create more capacity" to produce a greater number of self-driving Cybercab taxis.
However, Wes Morrill, the chief engineer of the Cybertruck project, treated this decision as if the production of this car was going to stop. He wrote on the X social network: "Cybertrack has been a wonderful platform for technology development, and this path will continue through Cybercube."
The Cybertruck, Tesla's more expensive electric van, gained many fans thanks to its sharp design, stainless steel body and unique appearance, and finally went on the market about three years ago after many delays, but sales did not meet expectations.
