Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese soccer legend, has officially retired from his country's national team. Since his debut in 2003, this 41-year-old striker has scored 146 goals for Portugal and played 234 national matches, both world records. Ronaldo left Portugal's camp in September after being told he would not be in the starting line-up for the Nations League match against Denmark. In a video published on his Instagram page, Ronaldo said: "People of Portugal, it's time for me to hand over the number 7 shirt of our country's national team to the next generation." "I never felt that this shirt was only mine, but for 23 years I had the honor and responsibility of wearing it, protecting it and carrying it in stadiums around the world."
