Mohammad Bakr Ghalibaf, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, in response to US Vice President Jeddy Vance's comments about the role of the war with Iran in the Republicans' election defeat, compared him to a "losing gambler" who cannot back down from the betting table.

"Your boss is preparing the next phase of the war, while the US is on the precipice of a 'captives first' policy," wrote Mr. Halibaf, reposting part of JD Vance's remarks on Channel X.

He then turned to Donald Trump's first vice president and wrote: "Abandon dramatic speeches." Why don't you tell your boss that? ".

In the past, Mr. Vance saw the war with Iran as the main reason for the defeat of the Republicans in the US midterm elections.
