Hakim Jeffries was a candidate for the presidency of the American House of Representatives; The promise to confront the "Trump cartel".

Hakim Jeffries, the current leader of the Democratic minority in the US House of Representatives, announced his candidacy for the presidency of this house. If elected, he would be the first black person to become Speaker of the US House of Representatives.

The Democrats will control Congress starting in January, and the presidency of the House of Representatives will also go to a member of this party.

Jeffries wrote in a letter to his colleagues: "Despite all the obstacles, the Democrats in the House of Representatives have succeeded many times during the minority. "Now, when we have the majority, we must implement the fundamental changes that the American people demanded."

Stressing the need to lower the cost of living, he said the new Congress needs to work harder to make life affordable in America, as people are suffering and ordinary citizens can barely afford the cost of living. Jeffries also said: "The era in which the House of Representatives operated as a company wholly owned by the Trump administration is over. Congress will regain its place as a check and balance against an executive authority that has gone out of control."

Using the term "Trump's cartel," he said that those who steal from or abuse the American people can no longer hide and must be held accountable.

The American House of Representatives is now headed by Republican Mike Johnson. The speaker of this parliament is after the vice president in the order of presidential succession.

Jeffries must be elected to the position in the House of Representatives and will not automatically become speaker just because of the current Democratic leadership.
