America's Democratic leaders have announced their top three priorities for the upcoming term of that country's Congress: reducing cost-of-living pressures, making government accountable and ending the war with Iran.
Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries, who are expected to lead the Democrats in the Senate and House of Representatives, respectively, said they would stand up to President Donald Trump if necessary.
They promised that Congress would no longer be a body completely subordinate to the Trump administration.
On the other hand, Republicans are coming to terms with one of their heavy electoral defeats and thinking about the future of the party after the end of Donald Trump's term.
Some of Trump's closest allies, notably Vice President Jeddy Vance, are distancing themselves from him.
The results of this election also raised the possibility that America is witnessing the beginning of the end of the mega movement.
