US Senate candidate Chris Pappas launched a ground attack on Donald Trump, billionaire profiteers and "cowards in Congress who allowed tariffs and war" during his victory party in New Hampshire.
Pappas, who would be the first openly gay senator in American history, defeated former Republican Sen. John E. Sununo to win the key Democratic seat.
In part of his speech he said: "Tonight's results are a wake-up call to the special interests of large companies and billionaires who have engineered the economy in their favor; to the cowards in Congress who have allowed cuts in health services, tariffs and war; and to the incompetent president who does not even bother to care about the suffering of the people."
He spoke of "tens of millions of dollars of money flowing into New Hampshire from Donald Trump, Elon Musk and corporate infiltration groups" and said "they spent money against us every day for months, spread negative advertisements and told blatant lies." But we still beat them, didn't we? ".
