Elon Musk cast a heavy shadow over the election tonight.
According to an OpenSecret analysis of campaign donation statistics, Musk has spent at least $455 million to support Republican candidates and conservative causes.
In the Texas Senate race, Musk spent more than $200 million to support Republican Ken Paxton, who lost tonight to Democrat James Tallarico.
Musk moved his residence and some of his business interests to this country a few years ago.
In his victory speech tonight, Talarico told fans: "We just sent a message to every billionaire, every billionaire and every corrupt defender of this bankrupt political system in this country and in this country: power belongs to the people." Earlier, after a few hours of silence on his social media platform, X, Elon Musk wrote in a sarcastic response to the election results and accusations of interference: "My space laser must not have worked this time to interfere in the elections."
