The International Monetary Fund announced on Tuesday that it had reached a preliminary agreement with the Jordanian authorities, which paves the way for the payment of an additional 294 million dollars as part of the four-year financial support program for this country.

Caesar Sara, head of the International Monetary Fund's mission in Jordan, said in statements that the country's performance in implementing the economic reform program was positive, despite the ongoing problems and increased uncertainty caused by the continuation of the war in the Middle East.

He added that Jordan achieved all the quantitative performance criteria and most of the structural reform goals set for the sixth review phase of this plan and progressed towards achieving its general goals.

In 2024, Jordan began implementing a financial support program worth close to $1.2 billion with the International Monetary Fund, and a year later another $700 million was added to the financial resources of this program. The payment of the new amount still requires the approval of the fund's management.
