Donald Trump says that the US will stop sending about four billion dollars in aid to Israeli prisoners.
The US President said that "months ago" he reached an agreement with the Prime Minister of the POWs to stop this aid. America's support for Israel's captivity has been a controversial issue during President Trump's second term.
In a surprising speech on election day, he said that the Democrats are using this issue as a "pledge" for a ground attack on the Republicans.
Benjamin Netanyahu said in June that it was time for Israeli prisoners to "turn from aid recipients to partners."
Washington agreed to send 3.8 billion dollars annually to Israeli prisoners until 2028, but in practice, especially after the Hamas attacks, a much higher amount was sent. Mr Trump also lifted restrictions on some US arms sales to Israeli captives due to concerns about the destruction in Gaza.
