Clashes occurred in several cities in Germany following nationwide interceptions led by teenagers. In France, there were massive demonstrations for the third weekend in a row and hundreds of people were arrested in Paris, Toulouse, Lyon and Marseille.
The demonstrations in Germany, which were inspired by similar movements in France and Italy, were mostly peaceful during the day, but at night in the cities of Berlin, Cologne, Hamburg and Frankfurt led to clashes with the police.
In Germany, the demonstrations began at the beginning of Saturday, and thousands of people joined the mostly peaceful interceptions. The demonstration was organized by a group called "Generation Z is taking over" in protest of the lack of school funding, the cost of living, the reduction of public services and the possibility of mandatory military service.
The police said that the situation in Frankfurt calmed down during the night and until Sunday morning.
In addition to Frankfurt, there were also violent clashes in Berlin, Cologne and Hamburg. In Cologne, the police said that their officers were attacked with a crushed bottle near the central train station.
