Fifteen men who were part of a gang that distributed cocaine smuggled into the UK hidden in cheese, breakfast chocolate and fish mince have been jailed.
The crime ring, described by West Yorkshire Police as the "biggest criminal organization" busted by the force, moved more than 4.5 tonnes of drugs across the north of England in just 18 months.
The judge in the case, handing down the sentence at Leeds Crown Court, said the people involved in the case were responsible for distributing "astronomical quantities" of cocaine.
The exact amount of drugs distributed by this gang, as well as its true value, is unknown, but a Crown Prosecution Service spokesman said, based on available information and evidence assessments, it was estimated to be between 4 and 14 tonnes, with a street value of between £400 million and £1.4 billion.
All 15 men convicted of their involvement in the case were sentenced to a total of 196 years in prison.
