The US Secretary of State says that Donald Trump has not yet decided on new attacks on Iran.
Marco Rubio, speaking at a press conference after the end of the G20 foreign ministers' meeting in Atlanta, USA, said that Washington is still considering the option of diplomacy:.
"If we want, we can achieve military goals. He (Trump) hasn't decided yet. I have nothing to share with you today. We do not treat such an issue lightly."
Mr. Rubio also said he did not know whether or not there was a specific time frame for Qatar-mediated negotiations.
Abbas Irakchi, Iran's foreign minister, confirmed today that an Iranian delegation is now in Doha to continue talks with Qatari mediators, but stressed that Iranian officials do not intend to meet with the American side. After the publication of the reports about the Iranian delegation's visit to Doha, the Qatari newspaper "Al Arabiya Jadid" cited sources close to the mediators and announced the progress of negotiations between Tehran and Washington and reported that an American delegation would also arrive in Doha for "direct negotiations" with Iran.
