Axios: Qatari mediators' talks with Iranian negotiators will continue in Doha on Saturday.
Axios, citing diplomatic sources, reported that talks between Qatari mediators to reach an agreement on the resumption of direct negotiations between the US and Iran will continue in Doha on Saturday.
Several sources also reported that the Iranian negotiating team will also join the Qatari mediators on the flight back to Doha.
Earlier, the Qatari mediation team held lengthy talks with Iranian officials on Friday in Tehran.
Axios also cited a diplomatic source as saying that Qatari mediators were in constant contact with the White House during the 12-hour meeting on Friday. This source said: "Positive progress has been made and negotiations continue to facilitate the achievement of an agreement between the US and Iran." This new diplomatic effort followed a letter from Jay. Dee Vance, Vice President of the United States, Al Mohsen Razai, Secretary of the Supreme Council for National Security, in which he asked to return to the negotiating table.
These spokesmen warned that Donald Trump might order a large-scale military operation against Iran if the Republicans suffer a heavy defeat in the US midterm elections.
