A sharp drop in the value of shares of American technology companies.
The value of shares of American technology companies fell sharply for the second day in a row.
This drop in stock value coincided with increased concerns about the hundreds of billions of dollars that companies have invested in artificial intelligence.
Intel shares fell 28% on Friday, while shares of Google owner Alphabet fell another 1.4% after falling 12% on Thursday.
Other tech stocks, including Reddit and Amazon, also fell, while the Nasdaq ended October with its worst monthly decline since March 2025.
While tech companies are spending big on AI, their earnings haven't always matched analysts' expectations, which has spooked investors and raised fears of an AI bubble.
