Mohammad Javad Hajj Aliakbari, Tehran's interim Friday imam, called for a review of the Islamic Republic's nuclear doctrine and a move towards obtaining nuclear weapons, arguing that the issue had now become a "national demand".
He said in Friday prayer sermons on November 9 at Tehran University that according to the latest polls, "70% of people support changing the nuclear doctrine," but he did not mention the source of those polls.
Haj Aliakbari asked the experts to prepare their proposals in cooperation with the responsible institutions and submit them to Mujtaba Khamenei for the final decision.
He also said that sending mediators and sending letters from the US do not reduce the risk of a renewal of the war and emphasized that Iran's seven conditions must be implemented to reduce tensions and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
