In a report, the British Maritime Trade Operations Center announced that an oil tanker was the target of a ground attack at the exit of the Strait of Hormuz and caught fire due to the explosion of explosives attached to its hull.
According to this report, a small boat approached the tanker 25 nautical miles northeast of Hassab, Oman, and planted two explosive devices on the port side of its hull, above the waterline.
The explosion of these materials caused a fire in the engine room and a temporary shutdown of the tanker. However, the fire was contained and the ship continued on its way to the next port. All crew members are safe and no environmental consequences have been reported.
