Vance: Trump will not allow the conflict with Iran to become an "endless war".
US Vice President Jeddy Vance said that Donald Trump will not allow the military conflict with Iran to become an "endless war". Defending the US government's military policy in the Middle East, he emphasized that opposition to long-term wars does not mean opposition to any use of military force.
In a question-and-answer session with voters in Fort Worth, Texas, that aired on Fox News, Mr. Vance answered a question from a Republican constituent who asked him whether the Trump administration had followed through on its promise to end costly foreign wars.
Referring to the history of his military service in Iraq, the US vice president said: "I understand people's frustration with the military adventures in the Middle East." He added: "We have been involved in the Iran issue for about seven months. "The US has been dealing with Iran for 47 years, and I assure you that Donald Trump will not allow Iran to turn into an endless war."
Mr. Vance went on to say that opposition to long-term military intervention abroad does not mean that the United States should completely avoid the use of military force. He emphasized that Trump will achieve America's goals and then the government can focus on its other priorities.
